Make Your Choices

Being diagnosed with a lung cancer is a life-altering event.
It’s OK to be scared.

iStock_000020276263XSmallBeing diagnosed with lung cancer is much like being thrown into the middle of a ghost story. All of a sudden, your world has changed. Things that you once believed may no longer hold true. It’s OK to be scared. Fear is absolutely a valid emotion given the situation and it is a feeling that you should not ignore. However, you cannot deny your new reality. To get started, you must first accept that, whether you like it or not, you are on a journey.

You will be bombarded with information and advice from your healthcare providers, your friends and family, from strangers on the internet, and from countless other sources. It is essential that you take ownership of your own healthcare decisions, and in order to do so, you must be informed and you must be a proactive ambassador for your own health.

The key to navigating the road ahead is to remember that this is Your Journey and that these are Your Choices.

In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.
